MEXICO CITY
Mexico City — A Perfectly Balanced Getaway
I just returned from Mexico City and I’m still buzzing from the energy, the flavors, and the effortless cool of this city.
One of my favorite moments was stepping into the Lucha Libre arena — the kind of experience you can’t stage or script. The energy was electric, the crowd completely alive, and I loved how unfiltered and joyful it felt.
Days were slower, spent cycling through neighborhoods lined with color-washed buildings, hidden cafés, and murals that stop you in your tracks. I found an organic farmers market that was brimming with life — heritage vegetables, handcrafted cheeses, small-batch mezcal — the kind of place where you feel the pride of each vendor.
And of course, the food — the street tacos alone are worth the trip. Warm tortillas, al pastor shaved right off the spit, esquites with chile and lime, pastries so fresh the sugar still melts on your fingertips.
After full, vibrant days, I loved having the Sofitel Mexico City Reforma as my retreat. Floor-to-ceiling windows, a beautiful pool deck, quiet luxury above the buzz of the city — the perfect space to recharge.
Mexico City surprised me with how beautifully it balances high-energy culture and easy luxury. It’s soulful, creative, and alive — the kind of place that keeps drawing you back.
